Harsco in at Turkish EAF mill
Harsco Corp. has announced that Tosyali Harsco, in which Harsco is a joint venture (JV) partner with Tosyali Holding, has signed a 10-year contract with an estimated revenue value of $210 million to provide services at a Tosyali Holding electric arc furnace (EAF) steel mill being built in Sariseki, Turkey.
Pennsylvania-based Harsco, which describes Tosyali Holding as a leading Turkish flat steel and steel pipe producer, says the initial commissioning of the new EAF mill is set to begin next March. "The plant is a significant investment of nearly $2.5 billion for Tosyali and will include a total of 4 million tons of capacity, two Quantum electric arc furnaces, slab and billet casting machines, a hot rolling mill and long and flat product finishing lines," Harsco says.
Tosyali Harsco's scope of work at the new Sariseki mill will include scrap processing and sorting, furnace lancing and cleaning processes, under-furnace cleaning, ladle slag handling and slag processing, according to Harsco.
